Artist's Statement - Bob Choronzuk

I am a developing artist currently working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in the various art communities, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.

BIO

I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work.

My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois during my high school days. I did some freelance work for national magazines; namely: Flying Models, Model Airplane News; and, for the Top Flite Models Company creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me during 1957 through about 1978.

During 1978 through 1986, my free time was devoted to the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Horticulture is a very rewarding hobby I would recommend for those who have an appreciation of nature.

Japanese landscaping also became a passion for me during this time where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community.

In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life devoted to creativity.

Now that we have super computers, digital cameras, Terragen; and, Terragen 2; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.
